Interesting Tech Fact:
In 1834, long before the digital era, two French brothers named François and Joseph Blanc hacked the world’s first telegraph system. The semaphore telegraph transmitted signals across France for government communication, but the brothers bribed telegraph operators to slip in coded signals that gave them early access to stock market data. This was, in effect, the world’s first documented “cyberattack”—a financial data breach that leveraged communication technology for profit. Nearly two centuries later, the tactics have evolved beyond recognition, but the motive remains eerily familiar: knowledge is power, and stolen knowledge is leverage.
